It seems that oh I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know maybe half, more than half, adults don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get enough sleep; from what I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve read we should be getting about 8-9 hrs of sleep a day but in reality many of us probably average about 6-7. What is it that is keeping us up?\u00c2\u00a0 A sense of rebellious youthfulness? A feeling that there just isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t enough time in a day to get things done or just shear boredom? Is coffee and caffeine the culprit they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re made out to be? Of perhaps you have the \u00e2\u20ac\u0153insomniatic\u00e2\u20ac\u009d variety of tiredness.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">For me it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a little bit of column B and a little bit if column C (although is it possible to be too bored to sleep?) Every evening I always have good intentions to hit they hay early, except when I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m working until 10, but on the days I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not I try to plan for 9 PM but around 8:30 something happens, like a switch gets flipped and I start to do dishes or think it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a good time to walk the dog for an hour or I have to do that last load of laundry or there is a program on TV that I like\u00c2\u00a0 or \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 or .. or. Does this sound familiar to you as well? By the time I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m done puttering about and finish getting ready it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s already 10:30 or later, I sigh as I look at the clock and think to myself \u00e2\u20ac\u0153I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m going to be tired tomorrow, I should have gone to bed earlier\u00e2\u20ac\u009d forgetting that my plan was to get to bed before 9.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I set the alarm and slide under the blanket, bushed. The TV is playing a DVD episode of one of my favorite shows and I shut my eyes asleep within the first 10 minutes. I wake up to the clicking of the dog\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s claws on the floor he\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s pacing back and forth from the bedroom door to the stairs, I look at the clock and it tells me that it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s 2:30 AM, I sigh as this has become my usual routine, I get up and put on my house coat and carry the dog downstairs to put him out. I wait sometimes 5 minutes, sometimes more and everyone once in a while I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m chasing him halfway around the block. Thankfully I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t have any real issues getting to sleep so when the dog\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s caught I drag myself back upstairs and once again slide under the covers. It seems I no sooner close my eyes when I hear the beeping of the damned alarm clock. I open a sleepy eye in disbelief as the green glow forms the numbers 6:30 and I hit the snooze button.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">I day dream about the night I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll get to sleep a full 8 hours but until then I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll have to continue to settle for my 40 winks which seem more like 20 and a half.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><a href=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/cory-icon-copy-copy.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-16\" title=\"cory-icon-copy-copy\" src=\"..\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/09\/cory-icon-copy-copy.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"75\" height=\"75\" \/><\/a>Cory<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Well \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 here we are another day and I still feel tired from yesterday.
