Not all is in vein as we hit the corner there is a tent of sorts and there in the tent are people \u00e2\u20ac\u201c is it some kind of tableau? No, they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re moving and talking to the people as they pass by. Ah finally one I get \u00e2\u20ac\u201c they were volunteers handing out the programs and maps. PHEW we wont be wondering around aimlessly we now have direction.\u00c2\u00a0 With program in hand we decide on a course of action and head to the subway.<\/p>\n
-interlude with cheesy music \u00e2\u20ac\u201c<\/p>\n We \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 have \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 arrived. Our first stop is around the Scotia building \u00e2\u20ac\u201c OH look a line \u00e2\u20ac\u201c must be something exciting\u00c2\u00a0 – we go and see \u00e2\u20ac\u201c WHAT there is a sign letting us know that from that point on it was a half hour wait to see\/participate in the event, we pull out the program \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Tra discovers that it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s some interactive thing where they take pictures and somehow morph them together or something all the while people across the street get to see the morphing in action because it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s being projected on the wall of the building,\u00c2\u00a0 – yawn. I wasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t overly impressed.<\/p>\n We pass through a building taking pictures of some interesting architecture and in the courtyard \u00e2\u20ac\u201c oooh look, what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s going on here? There is a fountain \u00e2\u20ac\u201c although turned off \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s surrounded by a circle of chairs. The chairs are empty but there is another projection on the wall and it shows people sitting on the chairs \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I was wondering \u00e2\u20ac\u201c what are we supposed to sit on the chairs too? But NO \u00e2\u20ac\u00a6 not yet apparently, there was someone there stopping anyone from having a sit down. Picture of empty chairs in a circle \u00e2\u20ac\u201c kinda interesting. Maybe? Well with nothing happening there and no chance for a seat we trudge on.<\/p>\n We walk down the alley along with the masses and oh the street lights are interesting \u00e2\u20ac\u201c CLICK \u00e2\u20ac\u201c photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c when we get to the corner we look left and right\u00c2\u00a0 – On the left there are throngs of people in line for some kind of drink we look past the line and see there in the crevasse between two buildings \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the rather large face of a balloon clown. AH COOL \u00e2\u20ac\u201c CLICK \u00e2\u20ac\u201c PHOTO \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we walk towards that end of the street. In the crevasse there are actually 3 such balloons all are interestingly demonic looking \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click \u00e2\u20ac\u201cclick \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click \u00e2\u20ac\u201cphoto\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s.\u00c2\u00a0 We turn to the other end of the street \u00e2\u20ac\u201c once again passing the drink line \u00e2\u20ac\u201c should we stop? NO we trudge on.<\/p>\n On the other side\u00c2\u00a0 – there is an odd blue light and possibly a fog machine \u00e2\u20ac\u201c there are bodies coming and going from the light \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the entire scene could\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been from Steven Spielberg movie. CLICK \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Photo -\u00c2\u00a0 We arrive at the light expecting to be beamed to some exotic location. But not really we stand in the light surrounded in fog \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click \u00e2\u20ac\u201c photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c looks cool \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click photo of strangers looks like a seedy meeting of mobsters.\u00c2\u00a0 All in all not too shabby.<\/p>\n I just have to say that at these things I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know what the best way to go about it is? Do you spend a few minutes at as many locations as you can or do you hit up the ones you really want to see and wait in the excruciatingly\u00c2\u00a0 long lines?\u00c2\u00a0 Perhaps a bit of both? Anyway.<\/p>\n With the blue mist behind us we see people leaving a building \u00e2\u20ac\u201c what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s going on here? We enter. There are people sitting, others standing \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the keep lifting their arms and oh they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re eating \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we happened upon a food court. We stop \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click \u00e2\u20ac\u201c more interesting architecture\/fountain \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Oh there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the exhibit. There is a lady and what\u00c2\u00a0 – she\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s folding paper on the long ass table \u00e2\u20ac\u201c because on the other end of the table there is another girl doing the same thing.\u00c2\u00a0 Apparently what is happening is they are folding pages of music \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the folding is supposed to reflect the mood of the music played on piano \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click photo. The two piano players are on the other side of the concourse and the pages are taken between the two by a runner. Interesting notion I guess. By the end of it, I believe the entire table should be filled with these folded pieces of paper.\u00c2\u00a0 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Turn around and wait OH something shiny \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not part of the exhibit but some interesting wall art.<\/p>\n We exit the building and the whoosh of the chill night air hits us \u00e2\u20ac\u201c refreshing me like a cool splash of water.\u00c2\u00a0 There is a crowd a people across the street gathered round what seems to be a jumble of wire tubing. What\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s this all about? The entire contraption looks like something from a Dr. Seuss book click – photo each tube has two ends that you speak into and listen out of \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the whole idea I guess is that you don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know who you\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re speaking with but just a voice from out of no where. Kinda cool \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t try it but Tra did.<\/p>\n I believe that this concluded this portion of or excursion. We again consult our program and off to the subway and to Yorkville.<\/p>\n -\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0\u00c2\u00a0 More cheesy music interlude \u00e2\u20ac\u201c<\/p>\n We arrive at the subway and are shuffling along with the masses to the street. Walking along there isn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t much happening right off the bat except there is\u00c2\u00a0 a barricade and some people\u00c2\u00a0 – who knows maybe tourists \u00e2\u20ac\u201ctaking a photo of their friends sitting in a cop car \u00e2\u20ac\u201c drivers seat \u00e2\u20ac\u201c is that even legal? While officer freelance watches bored.\u00c2\u00a0 Although not an exhibit there are of course onlookers watching the happenings. We trudge on.<\/p>\n A little further down the street there are a few towers \u00e2\u20ac\u201c and the are projecting pictures of smiley people on the fa\u00c3\u00a7ade of the Holt Renfrew building and everyone stops to take a look although we were more distracted by the scantily clad poster of Marc Jacobs in the window.\u00c2\u00a0 Click \u00e2\u20ac\u201c photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c just kidding although if it were the real person there would definitely be a photo or two for your enjoyment.<\/p>\n I look up and see just some random piece of whatever and click \u00e2\u20ac\u201c photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s a statue of a man holding a clock kind of like atlas holding the world \u00e2\u20ac\u201c kinda interesting.\u00c2\u00a0 We look down the street and there seems to be a beacon call from down the street \u00e2\u20ac\u201c it looks like one of those neon highway signs that flash messages when there\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s construction only this is flashing some king of images \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click- photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Not sure what it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all about but we don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t let it distract us from our destination our main reason for heading out to Yorkville. An Indian Tranny standing on a rock.<\/p>\n Walking down the street we see a mob of people with a line of people running through it like some weird cut off \u00e2\u20ac\u201c as it turned out this line up was for some interactive piece having something to do with weather or the seasons or something \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I honestly can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t remember but the line was all the way down the block and around the corner \u00e2\u20ac\u201c these people were in for a serious wait \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but after we ask why they\u00e2\u20ac\u2122re standing in line we decide m\u00e2\u20ac\u2122eh we\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll move along \u00e2\u20ac\u201c nothing to see here \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we gravitate towards a pulsing beat that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s almost hypnotic\u00c2\u00a0 there amongst the red glow. Anticipation is mounting with each beat the crowd waiting expectantly \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 5 minutes \u00e2\u20ac\u201c 10 minutes what is going on? Nothing is what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s going on. The sense of expectancy is does not crest and leaves us feeling rather disappointed. We turn to leave \u00e2\u20ac\u201c slowly because we know at any moment She\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ll be there \u00e2\u20ac\u201c standing on that rock, doing whatever it is she was supposed to do. We stop for fear of missing her. But still nothing \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we continue to walk again.<\/p>\n There is another crowd gathering off to the side and there in between a couple of trees is a man.\u00c2\u00a0 He\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s standing and in his hand are lit batons \u00e2\u20ac\u201c he begins to twirl them slowly \u00e2\u20ac\u201c click photo \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s all he does \u00e2\u20ac\u201c he stands there twirling his fiery batons \u00e2\u20ac\u201c slowly \u00e2\u20ac\u201c we turn to leave disappointed. By this time it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s getting close to my bed time and I begin to tire while Tracey looks at me with mild disgust \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m not supposed to get tired but stay out all night. We retreat down the street towards the subway\u00c2\u00a0 stopping for hot chocolate from a second cup I believe although could\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve been a Starbucks \u00e2\u20ac\u201c I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t remember -\u00c2\u00a0 Anyway their first attempt at hot Chocolate was ice cold and didn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t leave us with much hope that they could make a hot one \u00e2\u20ac\u201c but the second one was very hot \u00e2\u20ac\u201c redeeming them somewhat.\u00c2\u00a0 We wondered around a finished the Chaud Chocolate\u00c2\u00a0 and mowed on some street meat before making our way to the subway and our separate ways.<\/p>\n While I was home nestled in bed before 12:30 Miss Tra if you haven\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t read her post was out until the wee hours of morning getting in at an unrespectable hour 3:30 \u00e2\u20ac\u201c see White Night<\/a> post for Tra\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s review of our fun filled adventure of the white night.<\/p>\n<\/a><\/p>\n
