Is a Christmas carol? I can\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t believe it \u00e2\u20ac\u201c Halloween hasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t even come and gone and the retail sector is already setting up Christmas if it hasn\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t already finished. It\u00c2\u00a0 looks like Christmas threw up\u00c2\u00a0 all over the front end of the store I work at but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s not even the worst of it \u00e2\u20ac\u201c the kicker is it\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s even complete with Christmas carols\u00c2\u00a0 playing on one of those display CD sampler thingies.\u00c2\u00a0 Can we say suicide?<\/p>\n

\u00e2\u20ac\u0153Now, Dasher! Now, Dancer! Now, Prancer, and Vixen! On, Comet! On, Cupid! On, Donner and Blitzen!\u00e2\u20ac\u009d\u00c2\u00a0 I will never forget those names, even if I wanted to they are burned in one of the lobes of my brain having heard them since childhood when Christmas was a mystical time. I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t know if I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122ve ever really enjoyed Christmas although I\u00e2\u20ac\u2122m sure I must have in the days before I could talk but now I can take it or leave it.<\/p>\n

I enjoy the dressing of Christmas like the tree, the cheer and yes even the Carols but not in the beginning of October for two and a half months! I can handle the beginning of December until after the new year but PEOPLE\u00c2\u00a0 LET\u00e2\u20ac\u2122S GET A GRIP. Can we say commercialism. I do buy gifts for family and friends but I am slowly trying to cut back and get back to the true spirit of the holiday. I guess it depends on the traditions you grew up with and what you enjoy but I believe that too many of these \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Holidays\u00e2\u20ac\u009d are over done.<\/p>\n

I like to take each \u00e2\u20ac\u0153Holiday\u00e2\u20ac\u009d with a grain of salt and enjoy it for what it is. I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t take them in any overly religious context but rather just enjoy the spirit and the festivities. If I had to choose a favorite I would have to say Halloween. I enjoy the theatricality of dressing up and scaring people; not to mention the treats. I don\u00e2\u20ac\u2122t get many kids knocking on the door but that\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s okay I get dressed up for work and that fulfills my yearly requirement of costumes. I also think that Halloween should be scary otherwise what\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s the point?<\/p>\n
