It was a combination of no internet at home and being busy at work. I can’t really complain cuz I haven’t been bored but at the same time this is falling to the waist side. This is what I had so far:

I grew up with technology. Computers have been a part of my life since I was about 4 and I have never known a life without television. I work in technology, sort of. I work with a department that makes games and websites that is part of a tv production company. So when I say it is hard to go home and NOT be able to go online or flip on the television I really mean it.

Every night as I sit around getting all antsy I ponder a life before all this excessive connectivity. What did people do before they huddled around the warm glow of the tv screen. Or how did young people occupy themselves without social networking and easily accessed porn? The only conclusion i can come up with is that they were bored. Just bored.

My world isn’t completely void of technology. I still have my PSP, my media player (both are mainly used for music), and my laptop. I think my laptop is the one item that is keeping me sane. It has a screen where I can watch moving pictures. Where stories unfold and you get to forget about your own boring existence. It allows me to revisit the movies in my vast DVD collection many of which I haven’t watched since I bought them. Surprisingly there were a couple I obviously hadn’t watched at all since they were still shrink wrapped.

Anyways, the last few days have been a Wes Anderson movie-fest at my place. I, for the most part, love his movies. The only review I have done of one of his films was for Fantastic Mr. Fox and as I said before it is surely quote, unquote… His other films would have received almost similar raving reviews from me.

Bottle Rocket – I have to admit I don’t think I have seen this whole movie. I love the beginning and I like the characters but the quietness of the film always lulls me to sleep.

Rushmore – This movie was my first introduction to Jason Schwartzman and I have been a fan of his every since. I adore this movie. Max Fischer is a person that I would like to be friends with but I don’t think he would ever be friends with me.

The Royal Tenenbaums – Another movie I adore. Even though funny I find this movie very intense but I think that just has to do with the characters involved. Royal Tenenbaum is free spirited and kind of wild and his children grew to be the opposite either because of him or the absence of him. Also that scene with Luke Wilson where he shaves his head … heartbreaking.

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou – This is my favourite Wes Anderson movie and it is high on my overall favourite movies list. Anderson tried some new things in this movie like integrating stop-motion animation into the live action shots and the use of live stage techniques on film. It all paid off.

The Darjeeling Limited – I don’t own this movie so I didn’t re-watch it but I am fine with that. It is not a bad movie but it isn’t tat good either. It is very blatant. Like the characters had a lot of emotional baggage from their father and they travelled with their dead father’s luggage. It is all very face value but that just makes it sloppy not bad. Jason Schwartzman was the best character.

I can’t wait for Anderson’s new film Moonrise Kingdom, which I only learned of yesterday. It sounds interesting but the description on IMDB is only one line so it doesn’t give much. But I know for sure I will be seeing it.

My Wes Anderson film-fest was momentarily put on hold by a trip to the movies. Finally after 3 weeks I made it back into the sticky floored, chatterbox filled, cushy seated awesomeness of the movie theatre. No it wasn’t a  TIFF film I took in it was the cheese-filled, 80s remake Fright Night.

Well that was it. I ended with a bloody sexy poster featuring Colin Farrell. I probably got distracted. I would let him bite me. What I didn’t get to say as yet was that I liked the movie. It was the good kind of cheese that didn’t take itself too seriously allowing you to laugh with it (sometimes at it) but not getting bored with it. If you take the movie at face value you will have a good time.

Since then I have continued to watch movies at home, sadly I haven’t made it back to the theatre. I think I may have to suck it up and start going by myself cuz this lack of cinema attendance is not working for me but I am saving some money.

I did also got to see Yo Gabba Gabba Live! last week. It was way more fun than I anticipated. Sure the whole place was filled with toddlers and tired parents but because it was work related I got to leave half day I didn’t have to take time off plus it was free. And you know what else? I got to meet Biz Markie! That was totally the best part of my day. I don’t have a picture yet sadly as my camera was dying and a friend took the picture. I just don’t have it yet.

I kinda wish I took this pic but I stole it from another site. It was still totally cool. Surprisingly the show was also entertaining. It wasn’t just the fact that the bright lights and colours were a bit over stimulating but the music made the content bearable. Like this one from Muno that reminds me of an LL Cool J slow jam

And of course they had to this one

Oh brobee your flailing arms and frowny face make you the most fun.
