What am i trying to say?

Lately I have been having a lot of problems putting what I am thinking in written form. I know what I want to write about, what I feel about the topic, I do a little run through in my head but when I finally get the blank page open and have my fingers hovering over the keyboard nothing happens. And when I do manage to get something down, usually one or two paragraphs, it is like a 5 year old picked random words and dropped them on the page. It is so frustrating especially because I am a person who loves to write.

Last week I was planning on writing a few music reviews. I have bought a few discs in the last little while and they are good for the most part and I wanted to let people know. I suck at writing music reviews in the first place but I usually manage to push my way threw it but I just couldn’t this time. Maybe I will try again later.

Last week I didn’t see a movie so there was only the frustration of having not gone to the theatre. I was going to write some randomness about Harry Potter fanatics and the lack of interest I have in anything that has to do with the franchise. But the rambling that on average easily flows from my fingertips on to the page were more incoherent than usual. I would look over what I had put down and there was a lot of what?s, huh?s, that-doesn’t-make-any-sense s, instead of the usual ha-ha-ha-why-am-I-so-funny?s.

Last weekend I did head out to the theatre to see Faster.

I was planning on writing something about how this was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s foray back into the action movie genre after wasting his, lets call it, talents on movies like The Tooth Fairy and Race to Witch Mountain plus entertaining but wasted cameos in The Other Guys and You Again. It was good to see him kicking ass again but sadly it wasn’t very good.

This basic revenge flick kept trying to be what it wasn’t, artsy, dramatic, and heartfelt but it just came off as lame, trying, and highly predictable. The action couldn’t save this movie, there wasn’t much of it in the first place. Two guys were unceremoniously shot in the head, there were 2 brief gun battles, one knife fight, a car chase, and that is about it.

The main characters in the movie didn’t even have proper names. Dwayne Johnson’s character was just called “Driver”, Billy Bob Thornton’s was “Cop”, and the third main character who’s role was completely pointless was “killer” played by the relatively unknown Oliver Jackson-Cohen. I feel sorry for that guy not just because he can’t act but because his role was so useless he could easily have been cut from the film. This should have made his career but instead his lack of ability is highlighted possibly ruining his chance of becoming a star like mister Charming Potato.

There are other people in the movie too like Carla Gugino. She is a great actress who is often over looked and regularly ends up in bad movies. Then there is Moon Bloodgood who just needs to stop “acting”. Maggie Grace was doe-eyed and placid. And there was a cameo by Mike Epps and a bit role by Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje.

My friend really hated Driver. He kept going on and on about how garbage it was when we left. I have to say I didn’t hate it as much as he did but I am very far from liking it. It is not worth seeing in the theatre or renting. It is one of those vegging out in front of the tv, it comes on, and you are too lazy to change the channel type movies. You can live through watching it without trying to murder your tv.

Dwayne  Johnson came out strong first as The Rock in the former WWF and then in The Mummy Returns sure it was cheese but he had charisma and presence. He continued to do cheesy roles in movies like The Scorpion King and Doom but his fame still managed to grow. His best movie to date is The Rundown I could watch that movie over and over again. But his career hasn’t been going in an upward motion with his bad movie choices. He says he did them to get experience doing something different but it was just too early on for him to branch out, especially since it was so spectacularly bad.

I still like the guy though even after those missteps and I hope he does some better work in the future. He was slated to be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger, he still has the chance (even Arnold made mistakes). So lets hope his next couple of flicks are better.

Well I hope all that makes sense.
