Sadly this will not be a review for the movie Super 8. On Friday, I was unfortunately ditched for a trip to Ottawa by my friend. I can’t see a movie for the first time by myself. I need someone to either complain to or rejoice with; it is no fun otherwise. Hopefully I will see that this weekend because even though Green Lantern will be out I have very little interest in seeing it.
Saturday I found myself in Ikea. Why? I had to by jars and that was excuse enough to go to Ikea. The jars themselves only cost $8 but why is it I ended up spending $53? That place knows how to get you to spend money. Part of my purchase was actually some seriously funky material that I used to make cases for my over-sized down-filled pillows.
I made 2 in each pattern; they turned out pretty awesome I must admit.
Later that night I went out to Andy Poolhall, a fun lounge/club/poolhall at College and Bathurst. I was invited there to see Dan Haid who was DJ’ing that night. I thought it was a pretty awesome set. Had a good time bustin’ a rug and laughing with friends.
Sunday I did laundry and some “research” for this post. Since last week I have had this mulling around my brain. When I looked up that video for the last post with Willy the Operatic Whale all these other classic Disney cartoons popped up. Since then some of the songs just keep popping in and out of my head. So I looked up the videos to share with you.
Lambert the Sheepish Lion
This one is mostly narration and has only 1 song but that song like to hang around in my head.
Those lambs aren’t very nice at all.
Johnny Fedora and Alice Blue Bonnet
For a long time I thought I made this up in my head. No one ever knew what I was talking about and now I have proof. Torahlay, toralie, toraloo!
All the Cats Join In
This one is just fun.
Brazil
This is just beautifully done. And in the second half of the cartoon they break into “South American Way” which is a song by Carmen Miranda that I just love.
Two Silhouettes
This one is kind of boring but for some reason I always remember the animation.
But this is the song I think of when I think of the animation.
Silhouettes By Hermans Hermits
Weird right? I think it has to do with the fact that whenever I here the word “silhouette” this song automatically pops into my head.
After You’ve Gone
Jazzy goodness.
Bumble Boogie
More jazzy goodness.
Peter and the Wolf
A classic that throws me back to elementary school. Back when they had record players with head phones and you followed along with a book. Ah, those were the days.
Sure there are more but then this would go on for a long while. Hopefully they triggered some fond memories and you enjoyed them as much as I did.
