La Música

So we haven’t talked about some of the new music out there, here’s a quick look at some of what is playing in my ears these days –

Canadian singer/song writer and Grammy award winner Nelly Furtado has always been a proud multilingual artist. Her first single “I’m Like a Bird” hit the airwaves with huge acclaim and since then the singer has never looked back. Each of her albums has always had a quarter of it filled with portugese (her mother tongue) tunes as well. “Forca” which was Nelly Furtado’s most popular portugese release was also the official anthem for the Euro Cup (soccer) in 2004. She has also had Latin hits like “No Hay Igual” which was one of the more popular club remixes that year.  Manos Al Aire (Hands in the Air), the new single off her fourth studio album is an amazing song about the turmoil in a relationship that is caught in a power struggle. It’s a call back to the singer her audience had fallen in love with on her premiere album. Listen to Manos Al Aire here.

Who’s Got Your Money? From instantly recognised to barely idenitified, Tina Parol’s single was playing on the radio when I heard it. American artist who has a pseudo pop appeal with an indie rock look, her single is not supposed to be deep and soul baring. Its fun and the chorus repeats and you get to sing and be all “YEAH! I SHOWED YOU!!” on it. Enjoy here!

Boom! Breakout Canadian artist Anjulie, filled the airwaves this summer with her infectious single “Boom” but has been in the game for much longer as a songwriter, penning tunes for other canadian songstresses like Kreesha Turner (Don’t Call Me Baby) and Fefe Dobson (I Want You). Working with Producer Jon Levine (Philosopher Kings) her album runs the whole gamut of emotions and has a charm factor that will have you keep this album on repeat. Anjulie’s Salvador Dali-esque video is here!
