I Enjoyed It

I know I know this is so late. You have been continuously clicking back to this page for the last couple of days anticipating this post. Haven’t you? I am sorry to have kept you waiting. I was a little bit busy. It is hard to believe but every once in a while I still have appointments and things to do. I don’t like to sit idle for too long.

On Monday I was out hocking my wares, quite successfully I might add. I am now selling in a third store! I am really excited about Made You Look. There are 2 stores across the street from each other in Queen West. They are the most professional place I have signed up with so far and the people are really nice. They accepted 18 pieces from me. W00t! And yesterday, what did I do yesterday? I had an appointment in the morning then a couple of errands to run and by the time I got hope I was feeling hella wiped that I didn’t do much of anything else for the day. But now I am here taking time out of my “busy” schedule to write for you. It is my pleasure. I will still do a review for you. This movie had mixed reviews and by that I mean my friend and I did not agree (and we usually do).

The Losers is another movie based on a comic book. It has a setup that is very similar to The A-Team and very similar characters, but a slightly different overall story line. The members of a CIA black ops team have been betrayed, presumed dead, and framed for the murder of 25 children on an assignment that went completely awry. But they survived and are on a mission to find and destroy a man they only know as Max (Jason Patric), the man who ordered the assassination. But the team is broke, they have been branded as criminals, and are trapped in a third world country with no hope of getting out until the mysterious Aisha (Zoe Saldana) offers them a way out and a chance for retribution.

I have read a couple of the comics so I knew what to expect walking into the theatre. It is ridiculous, violent, and funny. I enjoyed the mix in the movie as well as in the comic. Except for the fact that everyone seemed younger than in the books, for the most part, the actors were well cast. Colonel Clay is played by Jeffery Dean Morgan, Chris Evans is Jensen, Columbus Short is Pooch, Oscar Jaenada is Cougar, and Idris Elba is Roque. They all had the stature and presence for the roles even though Evans was way too buff for a computer geek.

The one role that wasn’t cast right was Zoe Saldana as Aisha. The character is supposed to be gruff and volatile but she comes off as a pretty girl trying to be mean. Her face is the only thing that comes close to fitting the role. She is too small in stature, she lacks muscle, and she just comes off as weak even though she gets into fights and blows things up.

The storyline is a little spastic; it jumps all over the place focusing more on style than substance. But in the end all the pieces come together making the rest of the film make sense. Because I was never an avid reader of the series and didn’t read the first issues I can’t compare the movie with the comic. It is however an ok introduction to the characters. The Losers is a good one off movie but it is obvious the studio wants to expand on this franchise and they left lots of room for that. If they improve the writing this could become a good series.

My friend didn’t like the movie and he never really explained why. He did make a comment about Saldana being obviously miscast. But I thought the movie was just fun I am recommending The Losers, it isn’t the greatest comic/action movie out there but it is entertaining. It is stylish, amusing, and takes you on a ride. Just go with it and you will have a good time.

Think of how stupid the average guy is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.
