Since I have been home I have realized that my frequency of writing posts has decreased. At first I found that to be a very odd phenomenon but now that I think about it it is totally understandable. Even though I used to complain about work and how boring and/or how annoying it was it forced me to leave the house and experience things, participate, engage. But since I have been home I have no or little reason to leave the home.
Case in point, this is my ninth (9) day without going outside. I know, I know, it is not healthy. But the thing is I am not well. I have this stubborn cold that will not go away. And at first that was the excuse I gave myself for staying inside but the real reason I believe is because a) I am officially broke, b) I am way too lazy, and c) I have no reason to go outside. I mean when money or food is not at stake then there really is no point.
But staying inside has given me a lot of time to roam the internet, which surprisingly I don’t do very often. I have a few very specific sites that I go to regularly and the rest of the time it is cheesy online games. I have to say the internet is big. Very, very big. It is like the universe, it just keeps expanding. But what is also surprising but not really surprising is the amount of high quality crap is out there. People take there time and put a lot of effort into random things that just blow the mind. And I am not just talking bored people who have nothing else to do. I mean I found stuff that corporations have put out and it just blows the mind a little.
Take this gem for instance. The Battle for Milkquarious, “The greatest rock opera made about milkâ€.
It is brought to you by the California Milk Processors Board. You know, the “Got Milk?†people. It is enjoyable to watch simply because of how ridiculous it is. But it has a pretty high production quality, with costumes, sets, and a script. The songs are entertaining and you could see, even though it was meant to be pure cheese, they actually tried.
Of course there is always the stuff of the bored geek. Apparently to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of The Matrix the following video was made. It took a group of uber-geeks a whopping 440 hours to do. I mean even with my current employment status I can’t see myself devoting 440 hours on anything. They even made a website devoted to the project and everything.
I mentioned before online games. A favourite site of mine is miniclip.com. They have a ton of games of all different kinds. But recently I have been stuck on this one game that is so simple but so frustrating and infuriating at the same time. I will sit and lose and hour easily on it. It is called “Ninja Gloveâ€.
At first I didn’t even want to play it cuz it looked so ridiculous. Then I was so bored I said to myself “why not?†I scoffed at the game. Then I lost so quickly that it was like a slap in the face. Then one game led to two games let to ten games which led to utter frustration. Maybe my idle mind is easily lulled into these simplistic things but it just sucked me in.
Those are just a few of the things that the interweb has me into lately. If I find anything else interesting, and I am sure I will, I will share it with you. But for right now I will hold onto my unipegacow with my ninja glove while evading Lego Smiths.
