Waaaaaaaaaaay, behind.
I have been watching more movies than usual lately, all because of Netflix. I joined the service to get the free one month trial because Arrested Development Season 4 was released. I couldn’t wait for it to show up somewhere else, I had waited too long already. Because I have had the service for a month I have had access to movies that have been on my list. So I have been parking myself on the couch absorbing all that I can. Plus I have been making it to the theatre and watching what is sadly turning out to be an only pseudo-impressive blockbuster season.
This post will be long but it will be 90% images with, I promise, really short reviews. It is gonna basically be a “see” or “don’t see” kind of thing. There are 14 in total, most are new-to-me films, some new ones, and a couple of TV shows. You’re gonna stick with me, right? Here goes.
So this finished, that big thing happened and everyone lost it. As you know I read the books so I knew what was going to happen and it was hilarious talking to others who didn’t. There was a whole lot of disbelief. The season was a good one, lots of crazy stuff happening, less nudity, and more diplomacy. It was pretty good overall. I am very curious how they are going to handle the next season.
The whole reason I joined NetFlix was because of this show. It was good but sadly not as good as I wanted it to be. I think that is simply because they seperated the story into character focused episodes instead of just having the usual overlapping storytelling that fans of the show are used to. That means it took longer to get to the punchlines and that meant slogging through a few very dry episodes. But it is worth making your way through the whole thing. As usual by the end, the whole season is one big joke.
Why did this show get cancelled? It is hilarious! I hadn’t seen it in a while and after watching Arrested Development it was recommended and I was all like, “Hells Yeah!” and watched like 10 episodes in a row. If I didn’t already have plans I probably would have watched more. Just watch it, and be entertained.
I actually saw this before I saw The Great Gatsby. It was not what I expected at all but I really liked it. I have to say though in some areas they went a little over board and not in a good way. I mean at one point I was like, “What?! C’mon! This is just getting stupid!” and then 2 seconds later in the movie a character says pretty much the same thing. If you saw it you know what I mean. What reminded me that I didn’t do this review yet was this video.
It won’t make much sense if you haven’t seen the movie but if you had you probably thought that was hilarious! I did at least.
But go see it. It is worth seeing on the big screen I think.
Ok I started writing a review for this but never finished. I liked this movie a great deal. When I left the theatre I full on nerded out about it for like an hour straight not even stopping to take a breath. The thing is there are plot holes, lots of them, but because the overall movie is so much fun you can easily bypass that. Now though some of the nerds, including ones that I work with, are just crazy bashing the movie and if you don’t see it their way then apparently you are an idiot. The thing is I see and understand their complaints but that doesn’t stop the movie from being fun. See it. It is definitely a big screen movie.
No. Just flat out, no. This movie is weird for the sake of being weird and not in a good way at all. It ends up being boring and drawn out simply because you have no idea what is going on. So again, no.
This apparently little known Simon Pegg driven film was pretty good. It was a little strange but it is meant to be as you are to understand a character’s psychosis. They used some really awesome visual tricks and practical effects that adds real character to the over project. There are a couple really good laughs and quite a few chuckles throughout. It is overall a fun film that is worth a look.
I don’t care for this movie. Everything about it seemed overly amateurish and forced. It just didn’t work. This is a pass.
I have to admit this movie is hilarious! I laughed from beginning to end. There was a perfect combination of cultural references, dick jokes, potty humour, and jump in your seat frights. I was really fearful that this was gonna fall flat after about 20 mins but no, they kept it going with awesome results. Definitely worth seeing.
I liked it. It wasn’t the greatest film but one thing it does do really well is getting the audience to empathize with the main character. You really feel for him and understand his drastic change. It is worth a watch.
This was a great movie about a couple who are about to go through a divorce but are still friends. It is a sweet, subtle movie, with great performances. There are some funny “ha ha” moments but also this is uncomfortable “ha ha” moments and the combination works really well together. Nothing about it seems forced everything seamlessly flows together. Worth a watch.
This was a fun movie. Guy Pearce was just great and so was Joseph Gilgum they were into it for sure. Everyone else kinda just hammed it up. This was a well funded B-movie at best. But as I said it is fun, no thinking is involved. So if you are just vegging out this is great.
It is 98% Sam Rockwell, 1% Keven Spacey in a robot voice, and 1% everything else and it is fantastic. It is subtle, moody, and intriguing. It is a film you have to experience. Watch it.
No sir, I didn’t like it. I was so disappointed in this movie. The script was bad, the casting was bad, the action was bad, just none of it worked. I liked Henry Cavill as Superman though but everyone else wasn’t quite right for their roles. The only person you are properly acquainted with is Clark Kent and everyone else is just there so when everything goes nuts you just don’t care about them. Also even though the fight scenes are big, and I mean big (they destroy a city end up in space and destroy a satilite and fall back to Earth kinda big), there is nothing really epic about them. The fall flat and seem pretty anti-climactic. It was just blah. And it was so boring that my friend had time to realize that there were no blond people in the movie. Not as main characters or in background shots or crowd scenes. Yup.
Ok, did you stick with me through all of that? I hope so. Well that is it, I am caught up on all my show/movie watching.
