So You Think You Can Dance, Frenchie?

I enjoy watching T.V and I may have a mind block, I”m not sure however, there is a very distinct difference in watching an American program V.S a Canadian program or it’s Canadian counter part (examples – so you think you can dance – Canada’s/America’s next top model, Canadian/Americal Idol). I am a proud Canadian, but when it comes to Canadian TV the production value seems lacking. Even the talent on the programs seems lagging behind, even though I know there are many, many, many talented Canadians out there and I have no idea how I got so jaded in my opinion of Canadian TV? Perhaps it’s an oversaturation of everything American? Now with that being said I also have to say that it would appear (and I may be totally off base here but) to me it seems that quite a few hit “American” shows stem from Britian - I’ve noticed it in the home decor shows and in a few sitcoms or dramadies, evening soaps – whatever you want to call them.

Even though there are many times that filming happens here in Canada for American programs and movies there is still a difference. Is it because they throw more money into production? Is it in the use of different or better equipment or editing? I dont’ know but whatever the reason I just seem to think that as Canadians we should be able to provide the same level as American’s in terms of production value for our TV programming. I think that if that happened we would see higher ratings in our Canadian programs.
