I remember the days when a cold was a cold and there was no greater threat health wise than the chicken pox. Those days are obviously long gone and far behind us. With a surge of these “new†and improved viruses (sorry let’s use the catch phrase “mutations†– nice isn’t it)  Can I say right here and now that I believe that, yes the media has informed us of the H1N1 virus but in my opinion they have moved away beyond the point of informing and have gone to the point where they are in part creating and spreading a sense of fear and panic. Every news cycle 4 to 6 times a day on T.V in the new papers we are getting bombarded by the dreaded facts about the H1N1 virus. Thanks to this, if anyone thought that the ER’s and doctors were already busy and overworked well that ain’t nothing now. Everyone is so unsure and scared about this that they’re running to the doctor with every sneeze and sniffle. Can you blame them? Yes. I can. I’m not saying don’t be cautions, of course take precautions but people lets get a grip.  I know it’s hard to separate all the info being thrown at us but not every sneeze or cough is a cause to run to the doctor because not every sneeze and sniffle is the H1N1 virus. Lets face it – in the world in which we live there are dangers – some fatal – some not so much – take precautions but don’t live in fear and don’t teach your children to live in fear – we have come to rely on the “magic†pill – antibiotics – face facts there’s only so much foreign materials our bodies and ingest before they become immune to it’s effects, why do you think they’re always coming out with NEW STONGER drugs – everyone is taking too many magic pills for the common cold and sniffle, parents are afraid to let children be children – of letting their child “get†anything – NEWS FLASH – if you try to block your child from every thing how can they build up immunity to anything? So I say again – let’s all get a grip – take precautions but don’t run to the doctor with every sneeze and sniffle.
