Not a total waste

On Sunday I spent a lot of my day doing my nails. Picking colours, deciding on a design, figuring out just how to accomplish this work of art, one handed. It can be a surprisingly long process even before the paint touches the nails. Sometimes it is “easy” as I know what I want to do but when I have no idea, that is a whole other story.

I decided on red, a metallic grey, and black and a plaid design. I put on the polish one layer at a time, base coat, colour, colour, pattern, top coat. I hated it. I just looked at my hand and I was like, ugh. But I thought maybe it is just one of those looks that will grow on me. So I sat, watched some TV, and let it dry.

I got hungry though and after what I thought was enough drying time, I got up to make something to eat. I pulled veggies out of the fridge, meat out of the freezer, grains out of the cupboard, did some rinsing, chopping, boiling, simmering, sauteeing. It was a big show. And then at the end out it all I had ruined 3 nails.

So after savoring my very delicious meal (I technically made 2 meals so that I would have lunch for the next day. That was seasoned couscous with stir fried ground beef with mushrooms, green peas, tomatoes, carrots, and green peppers. I ate fajitas with ground beef, sauteed mushrooms, fresh made guacamole, dices tomatoes, and shredded cheese. It was really good) I painstakingly took polish off my nails with a q-tip. After I did one nail I was like f that and just cleaned off both hands.

You just read all of that and there are not pics of beautifully manicured nails. I know. But you did get a story of hard work that sadly resulted in failure but with a silver lining, I got to eat some really good food.

But what I am holding back it that I did my toes too. I know it is winter but I still like to have my little piggies looking nice.

It isn’t the greatest pic as I snapped that just before I put on my socks to head off to work. Now you know I have parquet floors, I wear blue jeans, and I am not very good at free hand polish designs. This two big toes do not look the same at all but you get the idea. I used 4 polishes on this look.
